I have been filming since the age of 13, for reasons not always clear to me, sometimes out of obsession: stills, Super-8 and video. I observe and capture the moment, out of a need to inquire, to understand, to stop time, to preserve. At age 45, my partner and I begin fertility treatments with the hope of parenting a child of our own. For five months we are confined to our home with a high risk pregnancy of triplets, with just a 5% chance of success. During this period I film moments that will eventually become my memory, my family's memory. From my balcony I film daily life on Rothschild Boulevard, the heart of the first Hebrew city, where Tel Aviv was born in 1909, where the first triplets of the boulevard are expected. Our new situation raises questions about our financial capabilities, careers and our relationship, as well as issues of identity, memory, history and nostalgia. I search for stories and images of the past, an understanding of the way things used to be, when we were happy. Memories are collected, characters revealed, an identity is formed and personal story unfolds about the boulevard and its inhabitants. Who was here before? What do they remember? Who was I once? Who am I today? Happy? Worried? Anxious, while expecting the birth of our triplets. For those living there and crossing it on a regular basis, the boulevard is a meeting point, a place of revival of urban and community life. For me it’s a place for wandering, both actual and historical, where one can reflect about the passing of time.
